July was a month of meaningful progress for animal welfare across our project areas. Our team worked with passion and dedication in the field, clinic, and community to reduce animal suffering, promote responsible pet ownership, and expand access to veterinary care.
We successfully sterilized 34 animals this month through our community-based spay and neuter program. Our team conducted field surgeries in both Bhaktapur and Lalitpur in collaboration with local municipalities and community volunteers. Each animal was also vaccinated and marked for identification.
These efforts not only prevent unwanted litters but also help reduce the number of free-roaming animals on the streets — a vital step in building humane and healthy communities.
As part of our commitment to a Rabies-Free Nepal, we vaccinated 46 dogs in Lalitpur and Bhaktapur. Our rescue unit responded to 34 emergency cases this month, including animals injured in road traffic accidents, suffering from mange or malnutrition, or abandoned in distress. Most rescues were treated at our VOAN clinic, and several have already returned to their original locations or moved to our shelter for continued care.
At the VOAN Shelter, we welcomed 3 new senior dogs and saw the successful adoption of 1 dog into a loving home.
